"We Will Not Be Silent"
One of the things that I love most about my job is connecting to people and sometimes just giving them a voice. Heather & Jordan recently got married in Savannah, GA and booked a special wedding session for photos with me when they returned home to Chattanooga. I usually don't get to do wedding photos except at weddings, but I absolutely love when I get to because sometimes a change of venues just adds so much and is a lot less stressful for the couple.
One of the things that made this so much fun for me was getting to do this as a film photography only session. Film to me has a way of stripping away distractions and just focusing in on the soul. It provides such beautiful, intimate moments.
In talking to Heather before the session, one of the things that meant the most to them was somehow bringing in some Pride theme or something to be able to make a statement. They wanted to say that they wouldn't be silent, or live in fear.
I personally have no idea what it's like to live with that kind of fear. To have thoughts and opinions spewed forth. It was such a beautiful thing to watch throughout the shoot as we encountered multitudes of people ( It was Riverbend and it was Country night.) and what started with a little apprehension, the kind words and beautiful words that were spoken really made me happy. The lasting impression for me was a little girl looking up and saying " I really love your dress. It's beautiful." Life and love is beautiful and you get out of life, what you put in.
I hope you enjoyed some of the photos. I would love to work with you and your loved ones in the near future. Be watching for some film deals in July for couples/maternity/kids/families.
